Museum of Modern Art
Now if you would have told younger me that I would one day see all of the pieces I had admired and studied for years on one floor and be in New York, I don’t think I would have believed you.
Nevertheless there I was in New York on a college trip, with 10 minutes left of the art gallery visit, whizzing around the floor of the MOMA filled with masterpieces. I gently strolled around the rest of the museum, keeping in mind the Basquiat piece I’d heard about but I didn’t have any luck finding. I just presumed I had missed it being exhibited. This was until one of my friends informed me there’s another floor, I couldn’t believe it. I had ten minute to absorb all the great paintings. I was just amazed wandering around, a bit starstruck. Nineteen year old me was completely overwhelmed, I took photos of every piece so I could study them when I returned home. Now they are long gone on one of my old phones that didn’t survive my regular visits to the dance floor accompanied with a gin and tonic.
I guess I have an excuse to return to New York again and this time I will do the top floor first.
